At Patrician Presentation, History is a core subject for all Junior Cycle students and an optional subject for the Leaving Certificate. Through the study of Irish, European, and global events, students gain valuable skills in critical thinking, research, and historical understanding.
Junior Cycle History: - Focuses on key events from ancient times to modern Ireland - Topics include revolutions, world wars, and Irish independence - Students complete two Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs) in 2nd and 3rd Year - Final written exam at the end of 3rd Year - Supports subjects like English, Geography, CSPE, and Religious Education
Leaving Certificate History: - In-depth study of Irish and European history - Includes an independent Research Study Report (RSR) worth 20% - Develops strong analytical, writing, and research skills and useful context for Politics & Society, Economics, Geography and languages. - Final written exam worth 80% at the end of 6th Year - A great foundation for careers in law, journalism, education, and more
