Who Are We?
The PPSS Fethard Parents' Association is a structured body that facilitates communication and collaboration between parents, the school's principal, staff, and the board of management. It's a platform for parents to engage in their children's education and contribute to the school community. 

What Do We Do?

Communication and Collaboration:
The association acts as a bridge between parents and the school, fostering open communication and partnership. 

Parents' Association 2025/2026:

Support and Representation:

It provides support for parents, offering a space to connect and share experiences, and represents the collective voice of parents on relevant school matters. 

School Development:
Parents' Associations can contribute to school development through fundraising, organizing events, and suggesting improvements. 

Parental Involvement:
They encourage and facilitate parental involvement in the school, promoting a sense of community and shared responsibility. 

Advisory Role:
Associations can advise the principal and board of management on matters concerning the school and its policies. 

Fundraising:
They may organise fundraising events to support school initiatives and projects. 
Partnership:

The association strives to build a strong partnership between home and school, working together for the benefit of all students. 

Specific Activities:
Organising events:
The PPSS Parents' Association regularly organize social events, guest speakers, or extracurricular activities for students and parents. 

Fundraising activities:
The Parents' Association host many fundraising initiatives to support school projects or to purchase necessary resources. 

Representing parents' views:
The association voices the concerns and suggestions of parents to the school administration/management and nominates two representatives to serve on the school's Board of Management.  

Supporting school initiatives:
The association assists in organising school events and activities where parents can participate. 

Promoting parental engagement:
Encouraging parents to get involved in their child's education and participate in school activities. 
Legal Basis:
In Ireland, the Education Act 1998 provides for the establishment of Parents' Associations in recognized schools.  Membership is open to all parents of students in the school.  The association operates in partnership with the school's principal, staff, and board of management. 
National Parents Council (NPC):​
The National Parents Council Post Primary (NPCPP) is the national organization that supports and represents parents of children in secondary schools. They offer guidance and resources for Parents' Associations to operate effectively.
